Lower GWP, lower climate impact
Over 100,000 times more climate-friendly
The climate impact of the R290 refrigerant is over 100,000 times lower than that of the conventional R410A refrigerant!
Our Gebwell G-Eco heat pumps use natural R290 refrigerant, which offers a significantly more environmentally friendly alternative compared to traditional refrigerants such as R410A.
The greatest advantage of natural R290 is its extremely low global warming potential (GWP) of only 0.02. Thanks to this significant difference, R290 is a popular choice for future-proof heat pumps. In addition, R290 operates at low working pressures, making it an excellent option for heat pump applications.
By choosing a G-Eco heat pump with R290 for your building, you’re making a sustainable decision that meets the demands of tomorrow.
A natural alternative without persistent harm
Switching to natural refrigerants like R290 also avoids harmful byproducts produced in the manufacturing of synthetic refrigerants. Many traditional F-gases are made through chemical processes that generate persistent and hazardous compounds, such as PFAS and other fluorinated substances. These so-called “forever chemicals” do not break down in nature and can end up in water systems and food chains. In contrast, R290 is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon that is readily available and whose production does not generate such toxins. By choosing R290, you reduce not only the emissions during use but also the environmental burden throughout the entire supply chain.
The F-gas regulation drives toward more sustainable solutions
Heat pump technology relies on the phase changes of refrigerants—from liquid to vapor and back—at different temperatures and pressures. Traditionally, synthetic F-gases have been used as refrigerants. However, the new F-gas regulation that entered into force in 2024 is phasing out the use of high-GWP F-gases in heat pumps due to their climate impact.
Our new Gebwell G-Eco® heat pumps for buildings offer an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solution for both heating and cooling.
