The cooling needs of buildings are constantly increasing. Gebwell offers energy-efficient cooling solutions for a variety of buildings, ranging from passive ground source cooling to active cooling, simultaneous heating and cooling, and heat recovery. Our solutions help improve indoor conditions and use energy more efficiently.
Our solutions are suitable for office, commercial, accommodation, industrial, and public buildings, among others. We offer cooling solutions for both heat pump systems and buildings that use district cooling.
Passive ground source cooling
Passive ground source cooling utilises the natural coolness stored in energy wells to cool the building. This solution creates a comfortable indoor climate with very low energy consumption, as cooling is provided without the heat pump’s compressor.
Passive ground source cooling is ideally suited for office, accommodation, commercial, and public buildings, for example. At the same time, the thermal energy transferred from the building can be recovered and stored in energy wells for use during the heating season. Read more about ground source cooling.
Active cooling
Active cooling provides efficient cooling with a heat pump when the building’s cooling demand exceeds the capacity of passive cooling. This solution is particularly well-suited for sites where internal heat loads or large glass surfaces increase the need for cooling.
Active cooling can be implemented as part of a ground source heating system, allowing the energy recovered during cooling to be used to produce domestic hot water or to heat the building.
Simultaneous heating and cooling with a CHC heat pump
A CHC (Combined Heating and Cooling) heat pump offers an energy-efficient way to cool a building. The thermal energy recovered during cooling can be used by the heat pump for space heating or domestic hot water production in the same building, or it can be transferred to a two-way district heating network. This ensures that the energy generated during cooling is efficiently utilised instead of being wasted.
Benefits of the CHC solution
- Cooling and heat recovery with a single system
- Utilising the thermal energy generated during cooling (e.g. for domestic hot water production)
- Generating renewable heat for the building’s needs or for the district heating network
- Excellent energy efficiency and significant cost savings
- Lower environmental impact
- Improved overall energy utilisation
Typical applications
- Multi-storey residential buildings
- Public swimming pools and spas
- Hotels
- Hospitals
- Shopping centres
- Office buildings
- Data centres
- Mixed-use properties
District cooling
District cooling offers an effortless and energy-efficient way to cool buildings using centrally generated cooling energy. The system is particularly well-suited for urban areas where a district cooling network is available.
Gebwell offers district cooling solutions to complement a building’s energy system. District cooling can be integrated with the building’s other heating and cooling systems, resulting in an efficient and reliable system that is easy to manage. Read more
Heat recovery from cooling
A building’s cooling process removes thermal energy that can be utilised elsewhere in the property. With Gebwell cooling solutions, the heat recovered during the cooling process can be used, for example, to produce domestic hot water or to heat the building. This improves energy efficiency and reduces reliance on purchased energy.
